Although having dandruff is just as common as having acne, it is still kind of super embarrassing. The good news? You’re not gross. Everyone deals with this. Dandruff is really easy to get rid of. Here are some tips to help you along:
Dandruff is caused when your scalp sheds dead skin cells or if there is an overgrowth of a fungus called malassezia. Go to the nearest drugstore and pick up a shampoo especially designed to help stop dandruff. You’ll notice that it's really easy to find one, because like we said: dandruff is totally normal. Wash your hair everyday according to the shampoo’s directions. You can also add a few drops of tea tree oil to your shampoo for extra scalp moisture and it’s super refreshing. When you’re finishing bathing, brush your hair to distribute natural oil from your scalp.
Stop yourself from scratching your head by massaging aloe vera into your scalp before shampooing. The cooling effects of aloe vera will soothe the itch. You can also use olive oil too, if you have that on hand. Massage about 10 drops into your scalp and cover with a shower cap or a plastic packet overnight. Don’t forget to wash it the morning after or you’ll have a super greasy head.

Search for the foods that are rich in zinc, like spinach or other leafy greens, milk and almonds. Not only will these foods help with dandruff, they are really good for you!
