Keep your acne under control!

Easy tips and tricks

Life is full of ups and downs, and when puberty hits, it might feel like more down than up.

Your body goes through so many changes during puberty, both emotionally and physically. It’s a lot to deal with, but it’s good to know what to expect and to remember that it happens to all of us.

Girls will start to develop breasts and may start their period. Guys voices will break and become deeper. Hair starts to grow under your arms and in your pubic area. With all these new hormones racing around your body, you’re also likely to experience mood swings and get pimples.

Honestly, pimples are a pain – it feels like everyone is staring at the big, red spots on your face. But don’t let them get you down. They won’t be there forever, and you can try some great, natural remedies to help your skin…

1. Drink lots of water

There are many benefits to drinking lots of water. Your body is made up of 70% water, so drinking enough of it improves your digestive system, which helps flush out toxins and ensures your body delivers the nutrients it needs to your skin. The result is clearer, glowing skin.

2. Try a healing face mask

A honey and cinnamon mask is the ideal natural antioxidant for your skin. They both include anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. Mix together two tablespoons of honey and one teaspoon of cinnamon to create a paste. Apply this mixture to your face after cleansing and leave it on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing off. Do this once a week.

3. Get less stressed

It’s tough to banish stress completely (homework, boys, difficult siblings) but you can try to control it by getting enough sleep, practising meditation or yoga, exercising and remembering to take deep breaths regularly. The less stressed you are, the happier your skin will be!

Try these simple solutions and you’re bound to see results. If nothing seems to work, chat to an adult you trust who can offer you more advice and reassure you that it won’t last forever!

Oh and remember… acne or no acne, you’re still beautiful!!
